2 months ago**"My husband and I stopped by this Black-owned restaurant today around 1:15 PM to grab a meal. As longtime residents of Maywood—combined, we’ve lived here 54 years—we’ve visited Pumpkins many times before and have always received great customer service. Unfortunately, today’s experience was different. The older woman at the register was short and unpleasant, making us feel unwelcome, as if we were bothering her by taking a moment to decide on our order from the pre-cooked options. It’s disappointing because the food is consistently good, but experiences like this are why some minority-owned businesses struggle to retain loyal customers. I want to support local businesses, but it’s hard to justify spending money where I’m not treated with basic respect. Whoever was at the register today—whether an employee or owner—brought bad energy to an otherwise good spot. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future customers. The food is great, but the service today left a lot to be desired."**

5 months agoPumkins always been my go to for comfort food, black owned and operated, never have I gotten a bad meal, the food is fresh and delicious- the fried catfish is awesome and the jumbo sized chicken wings go hard! U cant eat 3 of them in one seating💪🏾

6 months agoFood is absolutely amazing some of possibly the best BBQ I've ever had don't let the atmosphere turn you away I love their honey BBQ SAUCE CHICKEN TURKEY & Ribtips are the way to go also macncheese & cobbler everything thing is great make sure to call before going to find out if they have what you want always very busy so plan on having to wait! And there is no where to sit and wait!

7 months agoIt was ungodly hot waiting for your food! Glad it was a nice day and the air was fresh because omg! But other than that pumpkin place s always good food! If you're looking for some good homestyle soul food that's the place to get it in maywood Illinois

3 years agoBeen here a couple times and only had the Turkey tips which are pretty good and meaty but I tried the greens and they are horrible, gritty and over seasoned. Never tried any other sides and I’m afraid to.

4 years agoCall in food prepard when you get there. Great value for money. Jumbo wings with or without bbq sauce are great very good meaty rib tips very tender not chewy.👍👍
